Howard Payne Women Use 31-9 Fourth Quarter Run To Secure Game

Clarksville, Ark.-The Howard Payne University women's basketball team outscored Ozarks 31-9 in the fourth quarter to earn a 64-53 win Monday night in American Southwest Conference play.

Ozarks (4-3, 1-2 ASC) held a 26-19 halftime advantage and later built a 44-33 heading into the fourth quarter only to have Howard Payne (5-7, 2-2 ASC) take control of the game late. Howard Payne held Ozarks to four points in the first six minutes of the fourth quarter. By the time Ozarks scored its fourth point of the quarter, Howard Payne owned a 52-48 lead. The Eagles couldn't recover and Howard Payne closed out the game on a 11-5 run.

Ozarks outshot Howard Payne from the field (34% to 32%), but committed 19 turnovers in the contest. Ashley Hipps paced Ozarks with a 7-of-17 shooting performance from the field and ended the night with 22 points. Diamond Goodwyn recorded 12 rebounds, while Bryanna Moltz had 11.

Ozarks will travel to Abilene, Texas, to face McMurry University January 7 and Hardin-Simmons University January 9.
