Fourth Quarter Run Lifts Women Past East Texas Baptist

Marshall, Texas-The women's basketball team outscored East Texas Baptist 16-10 in the fourth quarter to overcome a 30-26 halftime deficit and pick up a 58-54 win Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.

Madison Sherrer started the fourth quarter with a bucket to tie the game 44-44. After East Texas Baptist (12-5, 5-3 ASC) eventually tied the game again, Sherrer scored four straight points to push the Eagles (6-8, 2-7 ASC) on a 7-2 run. The Tigers pulled within 55-53 with 1:07 remaining in the game, but Ashley Hipps hit a pair of free throws with 24 seconds left to give Ozarks a four-point cushion.

Ozarks held the Tigers to a 29 percent shooting clip. Hipps drilled a trio of three-pointers to score 18 points. Sherrer ended with 14 points.

The win snapped a five-game losing skid for Ozarks.

Ozarks will host Dallas Christian January 25 and Rust College January 26.
