Women’s Basketball Team Comes Up Short In Alpine

Alpine, Texas-The University of the Ozarks women's basketball team outscored Sul Ross State in the second half, but couldn't overcome a first half deficit as the Eagles fell to the Lobos 67-63 Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.

Sul Ross State (6-4, 3-1 ASC) held a 37-26 halftime advantage, but the Eagles (6-6, 2-3 ASC) rallied back in the third quarter to pull within 48-41. Diamond Goodwyn opened the fourth quarter with a bucket to make it 48-43. Hailey Ostrander drilled a three-pointer minutes later and Goodwyn made it a four point game with less than four minutes on an inside shot. Following Goodwyn's shot, the Eagles would climb within three points once, but ran out of time.

Ozarks outshot the Lobos from the field (36% to 29%). Sul Ross hit 11 three-pointers to offset their shooting performance.

Goodwyn finished with a team-high 12 points.

Ozarks won't play again until January 5.
