Marshall, Texas – The women's basketball team outscored East Texas Baptist University 35-28 in second half to secure a 75-63 win Thursday night in American Southwest Conference play.
The win keeps the team's hopes of advancing to the conference tournament playoffs alive.
East Texas Baptist University (3-20, 1-14 ASC) controlled the first half of the game outscoring Ozarks (10-12, 5-8 ASC) 30-35. The Tigers outrebound the Eagles 18-24. Delanei Stephens kept Ozarks alive scoring 14 first half points, including a buzzer beater three-pointer to cut the lead to just five points before the break.
Ozarks opened up the second half on a 9-0 run to gain momentum. The lead changed hands several times in the 3rd quarter before the Eagles took the lead. With 2:16 remaining in the game, ETBU cut the lead to five points, but Ozarks knocked down 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch to remain on top.
Rose Robinson led the team in scoring with 18 points. Delanei Stephens added 17 points and grabbed a team high 11 rebounds. Diamond Goodwyn contributed a double-double scoring 10 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
Ozarks will travel to Pineville, Louisiana on Saturday to take on Louisiana College in another crucial ASC matchup.
