Ostrander, Emerson Receive Conference Awards

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks women's basketball players Hailey Ostrander and Cassie Emerson received honors from the American Southwest Conference, it was announced Monday (Feb. 26) following a vote of the league's head coaches.
    
Ostrander, a 5-foot-6 junior guard from Alma, Ark., was named to the All-East Division Second Team, while Emerson, a 6-foot freshman forward from Jasper, Ark., made the East Division All-Freshman Team.

Ostrander finished thirteenth in the league in scoring (13.0), tenth in three-point percentage (33.3%) and sixth in three-pointers per game (2.0). Ostrander finished the season as the team's leading scorer and made the most three-pointers (48-of-144). A starter in 24 games, she also averaged 1.3 steals, 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Her assist average ranked second on the team. She reached double figures in scoring 18 times, including a 26-point effort against Bacone College. In that game, she tied a conference record by hitting 5-of-5 from the three-point line. She hit a three-pointer in 21 games and made at least four from long-range five different times.

Emerson finished thirteenth in the conference in field goal percentage (43.1%) and tenth in free throw percentage (74.3). For the season, she averaged 9.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in 25 games. She reached double figures in scoring 11 times. She had a career-best 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the floor against UT-Tyler.
