Delanei Stephens Named ASC Player of the Week

Delanei Stephens was named the ASC Player of the Week after posting three straight double-doubles.

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks junior forward Delanei Stephens was named the American Southwest Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the ASC Office announced Monday (January 7).

Stephens, from Coal Hill, Ark., posted three straight double-doubles while leading the Eagles to a 3-0 record and the program's best conference start since the 2005-06 season. She scored 16 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in a 76-67 overtime win at Concordia Texas. Stephens followed with 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in a 62-60 victory over Howard Payne, and finished the week with 27 points and 14 boards in a 66-59 win against Sul Ross State. For the week, Stephens hit 50 percent (19-of-38) from the field and averaged 18.3 points, 12 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game to earn her second career Player of the Week award.

For the season, Stephens is averaging 11.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

The Eagles will travel to Belhaven and Louisiana College this week.
