THE BASICS
Under first-year head coach Kourtni Williams, the Eagles have qualified for the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. With a 83-72 win over Louisiana College, the Eagles have secured the No. 3 seed out of the East Division. Louisiana College did make things interesting by hanging around late in the second half, cutting it to 74-72 with two minutes left, but the Eagles didn't let the Wildcats score again. The Eagles held a 40-32 halftime advantage, but the Wildcats grabbed the lead back in the third quarter. Eventually, the Eagles went into the fourth quarter with a 60-56 advantage. After Louisiana College pulled within two points late in the final quarter, the Eagles clamped down on defense for the win. Throughout the game Hailey Ostrander seemed to hit big shots and finished with 22 points. Delanei Stephens followed with 16 points and missed just two shots from the field. Savannah Kate Smith had 14 points, while Kelsey Dixson scored 10 points and had eight rebounds.

COACH WILLIAMS QUOTE
"We did a much better job of taking care of the ball. We settled in, stuck to our game plan and grinded it out to get the win. We had an all around team offensive effort with four players scoring in double figures. I am proud of this team, their fight, constant effort and desire to win. We're hoping to keep the momentum rolling in our final regular season conference game against Belhaven and into the conference tournament."
