Members of the women's basketball team assisted at the Clarksville Housing Authority Christmas event.

Clarksville, Ark. – Members of the University of the Ozarks Women's Basketball Team recently volunteered their time assisting staff of the Clarksville Housing Authority with their December Resident Christmas Party.

In addition to serving a variety of refreshments, players distributed frozen chicken donated by Tyson Foods and cleaned up the grounds of the community center. Players also assisted in handing out Christmas gifts and door prizes. Gifts donated by local businesses included Brown's Flowers, Diamond Drive-In, Family Shoe Store, Fashion Boutique, First Security Bank, Julie's Perks, Merle Norman Cosmetics, RansMart Food Market/Shell Station, Simmons First, Wal-Mart Supercenter, and Whitson-Morgan Motor Company.

"The Clarksville Housing Authority appreciated Head Coach Kourtni Williams and Assistant Coach Dominique Broadus for reaching out to our agency offering volunteers from their women's basketball team. The collaborative efforts of CHA staff and University of the Ozarks players provided CHA residents with an extremely joyful holiday event - smiles were abundant between these student-athletes and residents alike," said CHA Executive Director Metta Holman.

The mission statement of the Clarksville Housing Authority is to provide decent housing, a suitable living environment and to expand economic opportunities.
