THE BASICS
The Eagles suffered a 97-92 double overtime loss against Howard Payne University Thursday night in Brownwood, Texas. The YellowJackets had a 32-29 halftime lead and then built a 54-43 advantage heading into the final quarter. But the fourth quarter changed in favor of the Eagles. The Eagles started the quarter with a 6-0 run and finished strong scoring 27 points. Kerigan Bradshaw hit a long clutch three-pointer with nine seconds remaining to even the score 70-70 and send the game into overtime. The Eagles had more magic in overtime as Janna Rhinehart rebounded a missed Eagles' free throw with 14 seconds left and made an inside shot to put the Eagles up 83-82. However, Howard Payne made one of its free throws with seven seconds left to send it to the second overtime. Trailing 93-87, Hannah Weatherford hit a three-pointer to make it 93-90 with 37 seconds left and Carly Grace Dougan later made it 94-92 with 16 seconds left. But Howard Payne made a free throw to extend the lead to 95-92 and then hit two more free throws on its next possession. Weatherford finished with 24 points behind a 9-of-15 shooting performance from the field. She hit three from long-range. Dougan had a monster night on the boards pulling down 18, including 15 on the defensive end. Dougan and Rhinehart had 15 points each. Rhinehart had five steals.
