Eagles Push To 2-0 Record With Big Fourth Quarter

THE BASICS
Clarksville, Ark. – The Eagles had a big fourth quarter to put away Lyon College and secure a 73-59 win in Tuesday night's home-opener. The Eagles held a 31-25 halftime lead, but Lyon made a push in the second half. Brooke Ross sparked the Eagles off the bench in the second quarter scoring ten points and grabbing eight rebounds. Lyon closed out the third quarter on a 6-0 run to head into the fourth quarter trailing just 54-50. In the fourth, Lyon hit a three-pointer to close the gap to 59-57. But the Eagles scored ten straight points to take control on the game. At that point the Eagles led 69-57 with less than three minutes to play. The Eagles outshot Lyon from the field 48 percent to 31 percent in the game. The Eagles hit 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Naomi Smith led the Eagles with 19 points, pushing their record to 2-0. Ross had a team-best 12 rebounds and scored 12 points to record a double-double.

TURNING POINT
The Eagles outscored Lyon 10-0 during a three-minute stretch in the fourth quarter to secure the game.

TIP-INS
Brooke Ross posted her first collegiate double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Naomi Smith scored 19 for her second straight double digit scoring output and the Eagles open the season 2-0.
