  • Dallas Hands Eagles Loss
    November 26, 2023
    Irving, Texas – University of Dallas had a big third quarter scoring 28 points en route to a 77-61 win over the Eagles Sunday in Irving, Texas. The Eagles opened the game with a 19-12 lead, but Dallas fought back to hold a 31-28 lead at halftime. In the third quarter, Dallas hit four three-pointers to ignite a 28-16 run and head into the fourth quarter with a 59-44 advantage. After that, the Eagles had trouble getting back into the game. The Eagles hit 20 free throws in the game, but made 1-of-21 from the three-point line. Brittany Temple led the Eagles with 13 points. 
  • Bizarre Plays Late Allows Lyon To Win 96-95
    November 21, 2023
    Batesville, Ark. – In a bizarre ending, Lyon College made one of two free throws with .5 seconds left  to pull out a miraculous 96-95 win over the Eagles Tuesday night in Batesville. Lyon overcame a five-point deficit with 25 seconds to go by hitting a pair of free throws, forcing a turnover, making back-to-back layups on their ensuing two possessions, forcing a turnover and making a layup, drawing a fantom foul after a missed Ozarks free throw and then hitting the game-winning free throw. The teams combined for 17 points with less than one minute to play in the game. Overall, there were three lead changes in the final 1:30 of the game. The wild fourth quarter began tied at 68-68. The two teams went back-and-forth with Lyon holding a 83-80 lead with 3:16 left in the game. The Eagles fought back to take a 85-84 lead on Destini Powell’s three-pointer with 2:14 left. Lyon later hit a shot from long-range to go ahead 87-86. With 36 seconds left, Amanda Turpin stole a pass and made a layup to give the Eagles a 90-87 lead. She then followed with a pair of free throws to give the Eagles a 92-87 advantage with 25 seconds left. From there, Lyon's fortunate night began. With 1.3 on the clock, Lyon pulled down a rebound on a missed Ozarks free throw and time should have expired. However, a mystery foul was called on the rebound. Lyon missed the first free throw, but made the second that ultimately won the game. The Eagles desperation shot at the buzzer was no good. Turpin and Naomi Smith each had 24 points for the Eagles. Smith pulled down 17 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Rhodes Late Push Tops Eagles

    Memphis, Tenn. – A late fourth quarter surge by Rhodes College lifted the Lynx past the Eagles 55-43 on Friday night in Memphis. The Eagles held a 26-21 halftime lead and then went into the fourth quarter trailing by just one point, 34-33. The Eagles and Lynx went back-and-forth over the next five minutes. Britany Temple made a layup at the 5:28 mark to cut the deficit to 45-41, however, the Eagles would score just two more points. Rhodes finished off the fourth quarter on a 10-2 run. In the game, the Eagles made 18-of-64 (28%) from the field while Rhodes shot 37 percent. Both teams hit only 15 percent from the three-point line. Naomi Smith led the Eagles with ten points. 
  • Eagles Push To 2-0 Record With Big Fourth Quarter
    November 14, 2023
    Clarksville, Ark. – The Eagles had a big fourth quarter to put away Lyon College and secure a 73-59 win in Tuesday night’s home-opener. The Eagles held a 31-25 halftime lead, but Lyon made a push in the second half. Brooke Ross sparked the Eagles off the bench in the second quarter scoring ten points and grabbing eight rebounds. Lyon closed out the third quarter on a 6-0 run to head into the fourth quarter trailing just 54-50. In the fourth, Lyon hit a three-pointer to close the gap to 59-57. But the Eagles scored ten straight points to take control on the game. At that point the Eagles led 69-57 with less than three minutes to play. The Eagles outshot Lyon from the field 48 percent to 31 percent in the game. The Eagles hit 9-of-10 from the free throw line. Naomi Smith led the Eagles with 19 points, pushing their record to 2-0. Ross had a team-best 12 rebounds and scored 12 points to record a double-double. 
  • Women's Basketball Opens Season With Road Win

    Conway, Ark. – The Eagles used a balanced scoring attack and a strong first half to take a 62-50 season-opening win against Hendrix College Wednesday night. The Eagles built a 17-9 first quarter lead that eventually developed into a 27-15 halftime advantage. At one point, the Eagles held a 14-1 lead. Into the second half, the Eagles never relinquished the lead behind balanced offensive play. In the fourth quarter, Hendrix never really made a serious threat as the Eagles continued to build on its lead. Brittany Temple scored 13 points to lead the Eagles. Newcomer Naomi Smith pulled down a team-best 12 rebounds. The Eagles hit 42 percent from the field while Hendrix made 27 percent.

  • Forbes Caps Senior Day With Clutch Three-Pointer

    Clarksville, Ark. – The Eagles scored 28 fourth quarter points, Lili Garcia poured in 26 points and Judy Forbes hit a big three-pointer to cap a Senior Day win over LeTourneau University 67-63. LeTourneau led 27-26 at halftime and then increased the advantage to 45-39 heading into the fourth quarter. But the Eagles turned it up a notch in the fourth hitting four three-pointers and making 14-of-18 from the free throw line. Just when it appeared LeTourneau would run away with the game, leading 49-40 with eight minutes left in the game, the Eagles surged on a 10-2 run. Garcia hit a big three-pointer at the 5:34 mark and Judy Forbes ignited the crowd with another three-pointer to even the score at 57-57. LeTourneau took a 61-59 lead with 1:27 left, but Garcia answered again with a clutch three-pointer at the 1:07 mark to put the Eagles up for good. With five seconds left, Garcia sank two free throws to give the Eagles a four-point advantage. Garcia finished with 26 points. She went 6-of-10 from the three-point line. Seniors Faith Curry and Judy Forbes were honored today in a Senior Day Celebration Ceremony. Curry finished with over 500 career points and over 100 career assists. Forbes finished withover 70 career blocks and nearly 400 career rebounds.
  • ETBU Women Top Eagles In ASC Home Game

    Clarksville, Ark. – East Texas Baptist University claimed a 77-55 win over the Eagles Thursday night behind a strong inside performance. The Tigers grabbed 43 rebounds in the game and scored 38 points in the paint while shooting 49 percent from the field. The Tigers held a 38-28 lead at halftime. The Eagles made a run to open the fourth quarter. Heaven Hayden drilled a three-pointer with 7:01 left to cut the deficit to 63-50. But the Tigers responded to build a lead later as the Eagles’ run came a little too late in the game. Amanda Turpin led the Eagles with 14 points.
  • Eagles Fall On The Road Against Mary Hardin-Baylor

    Belton, Texas – Mary Hardin-Baylor clamped down on defense holding the Eagles to a 23 percent shooting percentage from the field to take a 65-39 win on Saturday. The Crusaders led 31-19 at halftime. The Eagles would score 15 points in the third quarter, but the Crusaders held the Eagles to just five points in the fourth quarter to secure the game. Neither team shot the three-pointer well as the teams combined for just a 5-of-27 (18%) performance. Amanda Turpin led the Eagles with 11 points.  
  • Concordia Slips Past Eagles

    Austin, Texas – The Eagles started the game strong only to have Concordia come back for a 82-68 win Thursday night. The Eagles opened the first quarter with a 21-18 lead, but Concordia battled back to hold a 43-35 halftime advantage. The two teams went back-and-forth in the third quarter with Concordia leading 62-48 heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, a Lili Garcia jump shot pulled the Eagles within 62-53. A three-pointer from Dalena Fisher cut it to 68-60. But Concordia scored 13 points in the final five minutes to secure the win. Amanda Turpin led the Eagles with 13 points. 
  • No. 8 Hardin-Simmons Uses Strong Defensive Effort To Upend Eagles

    Clarksville, Ark.-No. 8 Hardin-Simmons clamped down on defense holding the Eagles to 28 percent shooting from the field as the Cowgirls took a 59-44 win on Monday. The Eagles had a strong first quarter in which they led during that span. The Cowgirls would eventually lead 35-22 at halftime. The Cowgirls did extend their lead to 25 points in the second half. Amanda Turpin scored 12 points to lead the Eagles
  • Eagles Have Big Third And Fourth Quarter In Key Win
    February 04, 2023
    Clarksville, Ark.-After a tight first half, the Eagles caught fire and scored 50 second half points to take a key 80-61 win over McMurry University Saturday. The Eagles and Warhawks were tied 30-30 at halftime, but the Eagles hit four three-pointers in the third quarter and then in the fourth quarter went 11-of-16 from the field, including making four more three-pointers. Amanda Turpin drilled three from long range in the third quarter and McKenzie Greeson made two of her own in the fourth quarter. Three straight three-pointers in the third quarter allowed the Eagles to take over the game and McMurry could never catch up. The Eagles continued to put up points in the fourth quarter and led 71-51 with 6:30 remaining in the game. The Eagles went 13-of-36 from the three-point line in the game. Turpin had a strong all-around game scoring 18 points, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing out seven assists. Turpin and Greeson finished with four three-pointers each.

  • Third Quarter Push Lifts Comets Over Eagles
    January 28, 2023
    Clarksville, Ark.-After a tight first half, UT Dallas turned up the defensive pressure to open the second half and came away with a 67-45 win over the Eagles Saturday. The Comets forced the Eagles into a scoring slump in the third quarter, scoring 15 points before the Eagles would score. By that time, the Comets led 42-27. In the third quarter, the Eagles went 2-of-11 from the field. This was after the Eagles had leads in the first and second quarter. Amanda Turpin’s three-pointer at the 8:37 mark of the second quarter put the Eagles in front 23-13. The Comets would eventually tie the game 27-27 going into halftime. Dalena Fisher led the Eagles with 13 points. 
  • Sul Ross State Outlasts Eagles
    January 21, 2023
    Alpine, Texas-Sul Ross State University used a 40-29 halftime lead to pull out a 79-61 win over the Eagles Saturday in conference play. Sul Ross took control of the game in the third quarter as it scored six straight points to hold a 46-29 lead. The Eagles never recovered. The Eagles launched 23 three-pointers in the game and hit eight for 34 percent. The Eagles shot an uncharacteristic 50 percent from the free throw line. McKenzie Greeson led the Eagles with 19 points, thanks to a 5-of-9 performance from the three-point line.
  • Eagles Net Big ASC Road Game

    Brownwood, Texas-The Eagles scored the game’s first bucket and never trailed after that taking a 60-44 win over Howard Payne University Thursday night in Texas. Neither team shot well from the field, but the Eagles did own an advantage (33% to 29%). The Eagles did make 12-of-15 from the free throw line in the game and held a 26-20 halftime lead. Howard Payne closed the deficit on a couple of occasions in the third quarter but could never catch up. A layup by Reagen Markham with over five minutes left in the game gave the Eagles a solid 48-34 lead. McKenzie Greeson came off the bench to lead the Eagles with 13 points.

    Marshall, Texas-East Texas Baptist University forced the Eagles into 34 turnovers as the Tigers posted a 79-39 win Saturday in conference play. The Eagles trailed 47-21 at halftime. For the game, the Tigers shot over 50 percent from the field while holding the Eagles to 27 percent. The Eagles came out of halftime and struggled offensively scoring only six points in the third quarter. McKenzie Greeson came off the bench to lead the Eagles with nine points, all of which came from the three-point line. 
  • LeTourneau Uses Strong Fourth Quarter To Upend Eagles
    January 12, 2023
    Longview, Texas-LeTourneau University had a big fourth quarter to push past the Eagles 62-46 Thursday night in conference play. Leading 42-38, LeTourneau scored 20 fourth quarter points while holding the Eagles to eight. A McKenzie Greeson bucket at the 6:59 mark pulled the Eagles within 46-41. But LeTourneau then outscored the Eagles 16-5 in the remainder of the game. The Eagles had an off night shooting, hitting only 28 percent from the field and 55 percent from the free throw line. Makya Perryman led the Eagles with ten points.
  • Late Back-To-Back Three's Push Eagles Past Concordia
    January 07, 2023
    Clarksville, Ark.-Dalena Fisher and Layla Powell hit back-to-back three-pointers in the fourth quarter to help the Eagles take a 70-63 win over Concordia University Texas Saturday. The Eagles trailed the entire third quarter and for most of the fourth quarter until Fisher hit the go-ahead bucket at the 3:48 mark. Powell would hit her second three of the quarter one minute later to give the Eagles a 65-60 lead. Concordia answered with a bucket, but Lili Garcia hit a clutch shot and Powell made two clutch free throws for the Eagles down the stretch. Concordia held a 37-32 halftime lead. In the game, the Eagles hit 23 free throws, while Concordia made just eight. Powell led the team with 16 points. She hit 3-of-4 from the three-point line.
