Wrestling Team Competes In Viking Open

Jacob Dado and the Eagles competed in the Viking Open in Poteau.

Clarksville, Ark.- The men's wrestling went to the Carl Albert State College Viking Open on Saturday in Poteau, Oklahoma.

Cameron Cook advanced to the semifinals of the 165-pound weight class before losing by decision. Cook won by tech fall over Malakai Owens from Wayland Baptist University (TF 16-0). He won by fall over Tony Connor (Fall 2:54). In the quarterfinal, Cook won by fall over Jacob Wallace from Friends University (Fall 3:58).

Jacob Dado, ranked No. 9 in NCAA III at 141, went to the final behind four wins. He lost in the final to Cole Brooks by decision (5-2). Dado won by decision over Isaiah Vizcarrondo from Williams Baptist University (Dec 11-5). He won by fall over Ryland Wright from Neosho (Fall 1:14). In the quarterfinal, Dado won in sudden victory over Hunter Hollingsworth (SV-1 8-2). In the semifinal, Dado won by decision over Ryder Ramsey from Central Oklahoma (Dec 9-6).

"It was another great weekend of improvement for our team," said head coach Vinny Barber. "They all went out and competed hard and represented our program at a high level. Jake had a great day and made strides forward as a competitor today. Cameron has been progressing at a high rate and it showed this weekend. He strung together some very strong performances."

"I am proud of all of our athletes' effort and I am looking forward to our continued upward trajectory." 

The Eagles will travel to St. Charles, Mo., to compete in the Lindenwood Open November 19.
