Howard Payne Women Get Past Lady Eagles Despite Two-Goal Effort From Gragg

Clarksville, Ark.-Freshman forward Brittanie Gragg scored two goals for the Lady Eagles, but it wouldn't be enough as Howard Payne took a 3-2 victory Saturday in American Southwest Conference action.

Howard Payne (7-7-1, 2-4-1 ASC) scored in the 6th minute, but Gragg would answer in the 11th minute for Ozarks (3-14-1, 0-7-0 ASC). Gragg took a shot, but Howard Payne Kelsie Piland got a hand on it to deflect it out of the goal. Gragg then rebounded the ball and sent it past Piland to even the match 1-1. Howard Payne later responded with a goal in the 30th minute to hold a 2-1 halftime advantage. The Lady Yellow Jackets built a 3-1 lead after scoring another goal in the 77th minute. But Gragg single-handedly got Ozarks within 3-2 in the 82nd minute. This time, Gragg would chip one in over Piland's head for her team-leading fifth goal of the season. But Ozarks was unable to net another goal in the final eight minutes. Codie Freeman had four saves in goal for Ozarks.

Ozarks will end the season against Mary Hardin-Baylor October 31 and Concordia University Texas November 1 on the road.
