THE BASICS
The Eagles put on a dominating performance in their regular season home opener in a 6-1 win over NAIA Williams Baptist University. It was the most goals scored for the program since the 2013 season. Against Williams Baptist, five different players found the net and freshman Gisselle Estrada scored twice. Oddly enough, it was Williams Baptist that scored first and held a 1-0 lead. But the Eagles kept the visitors off the board for the next 88 minutes and the lead didn't last long as Kailey Barnes pushed one past the keeper to even the game at 1-1. Estrada would strike in the 23rd minute for her first goal of the match. The match would remain 2-1 in favor of the Eagles heading into halftime. Estrada worked quickly in the second half as she scored in the 47th minute on a shot in the box. Micaela Winters found the back of the net in the 72nd minute off a free kick. Anjelica Najera added the fifth goal in the 83rd minute and Gracie Millar scored the final goal in the 89th minute. In all, the Eagles outshot Williams Baptist 23-7. Barnes paced the team with four shots. Terri Brown picked up the win in goal behind a four-save effort.
