THE BASICS
The Eagles conference opener was delayed Thursday due to weather issues, but it didn't stop the visitors from winning 3-2 Friday against Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. The Eagles scored all three goals in the first half to secure the road win. The Eagles created scoring opportunities throughout the match, recording 15 shots on goal. The Eagles totaled 18 shots in 90 minutes. Madison Chaney quickly put the Eagles in front scoring in the first minute. After Sul Ross State tied the match, Gisselle Estrada connected on a penalty kick in the 24th minute. Makayla Davis later took a loose ball in the box in the 37th minute and buried it into the back of the net for a 3-1 lead. From there, Sul Ross scored late in the second half to make it 3-2.
