University’s New Swim Team Competes In First-Ever Race

Shawnee, Okla.-The University of the Ozarks women's and men's swimming teams competed in its first-ever race September 22 at the Oklahoma Baptist University Invite in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Under the direction of Head Coach David DeGeus, the Eagles competed against Oklahoma Baptist University, St. Gregory's University and Tabor College at the Shawnee Splash Park. The event marked the first-ever swim race for Ozarks.

On the women's side, Kaitlyn Henrietta posted a top-10 finish in the 50-yard freestyle. Henrietta recorded a 28.33 for eighth place. Arielle Burfine followed with a ninth place finish with a time of 28:46. Henrietta also placed eighth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.79. In the 100-yard backstroke, she finished sixth with a time of 1:14.67. On the men's side, Kobe McElmurry posted a 2:18.98 in the 200-yard IM for fourth place. McElmurry placed eighth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56:98.

Ozarks will compete in the Hendrix College Relays October 28 and Hendrix College Classic October 29.
