Swim And Dive Team Helps With Arkansas Adoption Day Event

The University of the Ozarks women's and men?s swim and dive team provided community service at the Arkansas Adoption Day Spring Spectacular in Fort Smith on April 1.

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks women's and men's swim and dive team helped at the Arkansas Adoption Day Spring Spectacular in Fort Smith on April 1.

The event was carnival-themed with games, treats and food in a jointed effort with the Arkansas Department of Services and Project Zero. Open adoptive families attended the event and connect with waiting kids of all ages. The student-athletes supported the event by running a dunk booth, handing out candy and making balloon animals for the attendees.

"I loved getting to volunteer," said swimmer Arianna Rosario, a junior from Texas. "It was a ton of fun for the team to come together, hang out, and have fun with the kids. It was nice being able to enjoy an activity with them that we don't usually get to experience. The dunking booth was a great experience not only for us but also for the kids. I think we made some of those kids' day by just having fun with them."

This school year, Ozarks' student-athletes have done community service for the Johnson Country Youth Coalition, Forrester-Davis Development Center, Clarksville Primary School, Special Olympics and Operation Christmas Child.

"Community service is so important because we are able to give back to the community that supports us," Rosario added.
