Women's Tennis Team Nets Win In New Facility

Nadia Madronal led the Eagles to a 5-4 win over John Brown.

Clarksville, Ark.-The women's tennis team opened the new Alexander-Boreham Tennis Center with a big 5-4 win over John Brown University Saturday afternoon.

In doubles, the Eagles got a forfeit win at the No. 3 position, but dropped No. 1 and No. 2. The Eagles battled back in singles earning wins at No. 1, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6. At No. 1, Nadia Madronal put on a dominating performance topping Julia McNeil 6-0, 6-1. Kaitlyn Gutierrez posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jadyn Engel at No. 4 and Abrian Johnson won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5. The Eagles gained another forfeit win at No. 6 singles.

The new Alexander-Boreham Tennis Center has eight courts with LED lighting and features PlaySight video technology allowing fans to watch the matches online and players to evaluate their play. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Saturday, October 27.

"Today's match was a wonderful way to begin competition in the Alexander-Boreham Tennis Center," said head coach Jeff Kutac. "The crowd was awesome and we were able to play our entire roster."

The Eagles will host Hendrix College October 6.
