Abilene, Texas-The women's tennis team wrapped up play at the ITA Southwest Regional in Abilene, Texas.
The Eagles compted both Friday and Saturday in the tournament.
Senior Karlee Hart battled through illness and a tough draw to compete well in her first match of the A draw losing 6-1, 7-6 to Isabella Wilk from Concordia University Texas. Hart then dropped her consilation match 6-0, 6-0 to Svaksh Iyengar from Texas Dallas. Angelica Garcia lost her first match 6-1, 6-0 against Kaitlyn Hathorn from Hardin-Simmons and then lost (6-2, 3-6, 10-7) in a 10 point tiebreaker in her second match. After a first round loss, Lexy Corona made it to the quarters of the consolation bracket in the B draw before losing (6-2, 2-6, 3-10) in a 10 point tiebreaker to Kylie Long from McMurry. Kaitlin Gutierrez had a strong win in the first round before bowing out in the second in the B draw to Maddi Davis from East Texas Baptist (6-1, 6-0). Gutierrez won 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 against Kylee Mixon from East Texas Baptist. Corona and Gutierrez lost 8-6 in the first round of the B draw in doubles and Hart and Garcia lost by default.
