Abilene, Texas-The University of the Ozarks women's and men's track team had a number of runners compete in the final day of the American Southwest Conference Championships Saturday.
In the 5000-meter, Hannah Smith finished fourth overall to score points for Ozarks. Smith ran a 19:53.60, making it her best 5000-meter time of the season. In the men's 5000-meter, Layne Garcia scored points for Ozarks finishing seventh with a time of 17:04.16.
Smith was narrowly edged out in the 1500-meter race finishing second with a time of 5:16.99. The winner posted a time of 5:16.16. Stephanie Alderson ran a 5:48.63 to finish 13th in the 1500-meter. Jonathon Wood ran a 4:39.54 in the 1500-meter.
In the women's 800-meter, Caitlyn Bell ran a 2:42.52 to score points for Ozarks. Her time placed her seventh overall. Alderson ran a 2:55.20 in the 800-meter. Garcia posted a 2:11.13 and Jonathon Wood posted a 2:11.95 in the men's 800-meter.
