Cross Country Team Opens Season With Hokum Karem

Clarksville, Ark.-The women's and men's cross country teams opened the 2016 season by hosting a Hokum Karem relay duel against Hendrix College Thursday.

The women's team won the 5.7 mile race on a total time tie-breaker. The Hendrix men won their 6.8 mile race by a score of 7-4.

Madison Sherrer and Caitlyn Bell finished second in the event running a 40.20.0. Hannah Smith and Jacquelyn Vaden placed third with a time of 40.24. Denise Garcia and Monica Flores finished sixth with a time of 49.36.5. Stephanie Alderson combined with Hendrix College's Melissa Pizza to run a 42.17 for fourth place.

In the men's race, Jonathon Wood and Spencer Turner finished third with a time of 41.25.4.  Dylan Holman and Kole Smith placed sixth with a time of 46.04.04. Samuel Binns and Tyler O'Banion posted a time of 46.13.1 for seventh place. Rafael Perez and Josue Oviedo Guillen finished eighth after running a 51.37.8.

The Eagles will travel to Memphis to compete in the Rhodes College Invitational September 17.
