Eagles Score Final Five Points To Secure Game

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles scored the final five points of the game to secure a 89-85 win and Ted Beard IV posted a double-double against Concordia University Texas Saturday in American Southwest Conference play.

Ozarks (8-15, 6-14 ASC) trailed 85-84 with 1:05 remaining in the contest before Ricky Allen hit a clutch jumper with 52 ticks on the clock to give the Eagles the lead. Beard IV hit a pair of free throws to push Ozarks in front 88-85 with 15 seconds left. Andrew Cummings made another free throw to put the game out of reach with 4 seconds to play.

The Eagles trailed 46-37 at intermission as Concordia (16-7, 13-7 ASC) hit 56 percent from the field, but Ozarks eventually got back in the game behind 15 second half points from Beard IV. Ricky Allen, who scored 12 second half points, nailed a shot from long-range to tie the contest, 75-75, at the 5:38 mark. The Tornados took the lead back, but Beard IV completed a three-point play with 2:53 remaining to put the momentum in Ozarks' favor.

Beard IV finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Allen had 21 points and five steals, while Jordan Walker added 14 points.

Ozarks will travel to Clinton, Mississippi to face Mississippi College February 20 and Pineville, Louisiana, to face Louisiana College February 22.
