Mary Hardin-Baylor Men Hand Eagles Heart-Breaker

Mary Hardin-Baylor Men Hand Eagles Heart-Breaker

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles made a late second half rally and had the ball with under 40 seconds to play in a tied game only to have Mary Hardin-Baylor score the winning layup with 3 seconds left to escape with a 69-67 win Thursday in American Southwest Conference play.

Ozarks (5-7, 3-6 ASC) rallied from a 15-point second half deficit to eventually tie the contest 67-67 on Kelby Robinson's three-pointer with 1:11 remaining. Ozarks forced a turnover on Mary Hardin-Baylor's next possession to get the last shot with less than 40 seconds to play.  Mary Hardin-Baylor (8-4, 5-2 ASC), however, returned the favor and stole the ball back and drove down to score the game-winning layup with 3.2 ticks on the clock. Ozarks did get off a decent look at a three-pointer, but it came up empty.

Mary Hardin-Baylor controlled the tempo in the second half until late in the game. Robinson and Dylan Gray were a big part of that, scoring 13 and 12 points, respectively. The duo scored a combined 42 points and hit eight three-pointers in the game, with Robinson leading the way with 22 points. Gray ended with 20 points.

Ozarks will host Concordia University Texas January 10.
