Strong Second Half Lifts Eagles Past McMurry

The Eagles oustscored McMurry University 66-46 in the second half and shot 63 percent during that stretch to outlast the War Hawks in an emotional 101-82 win Thursday night.

THE BASICS
The Eagles outscored McMurry University 66-46 in the second half and shot 63 percent during that stretch to outlast the War Hawks in an emotional 101-82 win Thursday night. McMurry led 36-35 at halftime, but the Eagles dominated the final eight minutes of the game. With McMurry trailing just 61-59 with 8:55 remaining in the game, the Eagles turned it up a notch and went on a 8-2 run. Hanging on to a 82-76 advantage with 3:11 left, the Eagles went on another burst that left the War Hawks frustrated. The Eagles closed out the game on a 19-6 run. The Eagles also hit 21-of-28 from the free throw line in the second half, including four straight by Kelvin Knight following a War Hawk double technical foul. Bryson Johnson sparked the Eagles off the bench with 25 points.
