THE BASICS

East Texas Baptist University grinded out a 76-65 win over the scrappy Eagles Saturday in American Southwest Conference play. The Tigers held a 38-29 halftime advantage behind a 53 percent shooting clip from the field. The Tigers extended its lead to 46-33 in the second half before the Eagles went on a run. The Eagles generated ten straight points, all coming from Bryson Johnson and Zach Bobo. At that point, the Eagles trailed 48-45 at the 14:14 mark. Eventually the Eagles pulled within 53-52 on a Darnel Renelique inside shot. But the Eagles didn't get any closer. The Eagles launched 27 three-pointers in the game. Johnson scored 23 points to lead the Eagles.
