Clay Target Team Remains State's Best

The Clay Target Team won the team Skeet title at the Arkansas Collegiate Championships.

Clarksville, Ark.- The University of the Ozarks women's and men's clay target team won the Arkansas Collegiate Championships in North Little Rock over the weekend. 

The Eagles have dominated the state for several years and have now won four titles in a row against the top teams in the state. The Eagles totaled 1777, while Southern Arkansas finished with 1578 and University of Arkansas had 1565 to round out the top three teams. The Eagles took home trophies with the top team scores in Sporting Clays, Skeet, Trap and Doubles Trap. Several shooters proved to be among the best in the state, with Cameron Ziarko leading the way as the men's HOA with a score of 363. The Eagles had the next three top individual scores: Jacob Tucker (356), Lane Klohn (355) and Wyatt McCaghren (352). The Eagles had the top-3 finishers in four different shoots. In Sporting Clays, Klohn was first with a score of 85. Ziarko followed with a score of 84 and McCaghren finished third with a score of 78. In Skeet, Tucker was first with 100. Klohn was second with 98 and Ziarko was third with 97. In Trap, Tucker was first with 99. Ziarko was second with 96 and Ethan Fleming placed third with 95. In Doubles Trap, McCaghren was first with 91. Ziarko was second with 86 and Coleman Wheeler was third with 86.

Kinley Cox had the second highest score on the women's HOA with 278. Karlee McCaghren finished fourth with 238.

The winning Sporting Clays team consisted of Klohn, Ziarko, McCaghren, Trey Greeson and Tucker. The team had a score of 396. The winning Skeet team consisted of Tucker, Klohn, Ziarko, McCaghren and Corbin Cooper. The team scored a 479. The Eagles also placed third with the team of Fleming, Greeson, Moudy Stolz, Cox and Lane Ward scoring 412. The winning Trap team consisted of Tucker, Ziarko, Fleming, Wheeler and Klohn. The team scored a 472. The Eagles also placed third in Trap with Wyatt McCaghren, Greeson, Lane Ward, Corbin Cooper and Cox scoring 441. The winning Doubles Trap team consisted of Wyatt McCaghren, Ziarko, Wheeler, Ward and Tucker. The team had a score of 430. The Eagles also finished third in Doubles Trap with a score of 374. That team consisted of Klohn, Levi Prestidge, Fleming, Cooper and Karlee McCaghren.

The Eagles now prepare for the ACUI/SCTP National Championships in San Antonio March 20-25.
