HOW IT HAPPENED
Richardson, Texas – UT Dallas eliminated the Eagles from the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament with a 5-1 win Tuesday night in the quarterfinals. The Comets used a home field advantage to score early in the match and hold a 1-0 lead. The Comets then scored in the 27th minute to move ahead 2-0. But the Eagles showed some life as Chris Rodriguez found an open Ernesto Frias for a nice goal in the 40th minute. The score remained 2-1 at halftime, but the Comets owned a 12-3 shots advantage and a 4-0 corner kicks advantage. The Comets were able to score in the 51st minute to make it tough for an Eagles comeback. The Comets' fourth goal came in the 70th minute to make it 4-1. The Comets created 24 shots with seven of those on goal in the match.
