Eight Men's Soccer Players Receive All-Conference

Eight members of the men's soccer team received All-Conference honors.

Clarksville, Ark.- Eight University of the Ozarks men's soccer players were honored by the American Southwest Conference (ASC) with All-Conference awards, it was announced by the league office Tuesday, November 8.
     
Senior forward Kyle Seymour was named to the All-ASC First Team. Three players made the All-ASC Third Team, including junior defender Brock Bernard, junior defender Bailey Sawyer and sophomore forward Rasto Rimbo. Four others were named to the Honorable Mention Team, including freshman defender Harper Branch, junior midfielder Colin Cosby, junior midfielder Chris Rodriguez and junior goalkeeper Caleb Anderson.  

Seymour, a native of New Lenox, Ill., wraps up one of the most impactful career in program history having earned All-Conference all four years at Ozarks. His career stats include 13 goals, ten assists, 36 points, 110 shots and three game-winning goals. In 2023, he ranked among the ASC's top-10 in points, assists and shots. He led the team in assists (3), shots (30) and shots on goal (10). He finished second on the team in goals (3). He had a dominating performance to open the season with a goal and two assists against Centenary. He later had two goals and an assist in a win against McMurry. The dynamic Seymour played all over the field during his career and led the Eagles to four consecutive playoff appearances and a conference championship. He also earned All-Conference at his previous school for a five-time All-Conference career.

Bernard, a native of Rockwall, Texas, started in 15 games and steadied the defense to five shutouts during the season. Bernard's backline defensive effort helped the Eagles finish with a 6-1 record at home while limiting opponents to just three goals at home. Bernard is a three-time All-Conference player.

Sawyer, a native of the United Kingdom, started in 15 matches for the Eagles. Sawyer's defensive presence pushed the Eagles to the playoffs and helped the program to five shutouts. Sawyer was also a threat offensively scoring two goals and taking eight shots.

Rimbo, a native of Fayetteville, Ark., had a flare for clutch shots as he led the conference with four game-winning goals. Rimbo led the team in goals with five and points with 12. He had two assists and took 11 shots. Seven of his shots were on frame. Rimbo gained a reputation for scoring late in matches to secure wins for the Eagles. Two of his game-winners were beyond the 70-minute mark. He had a goal, an assist and the game-winner against Howard Payne. 

Branch, a native of Royce City, Texas, was one of only two players to start in all 17 matches. The steady play of Branch guided the Eagles to five wins in the month of September, three of which were shutouts. On the offensive end, Branch took nine shots.

Cosby, a native of Broken Arrow, Okla., started in all 17 matches and guided the Eagles to five shutouts and a playoff appearance. The versatile Cosby created scoring opportunities for his teammates and his play in the midfield helped the Eagles outscore their opponents 19-3 at home. He was named the ASC Defensive Freshman of the Year.

Rodriguez, a native of Rockwall, Texas, played in 16 games and netted three goals to go along with one assist. The talented Rodriguez recorded one game-winning goal against Sul Ross State. Rodriguez only took six shots on the season with three of those resulting in goals and three others on frame.

Anderson, a native of Broken Arrow, Okla., notched two shutouts while posting six wins in goal. Anderson played 1150:14 minutes and owned a 1.80 goals against average. He recorded 42 saves. He had seven saves to preserve the win against Howard Payne. In four of his wins, he owned a 1.000 saves percentage.

The Eagles advanced to the ASC playoffs for the 21st time in program history.
