Men’s Tennis Team Opens West Coast Play With Loss Against No. 12 George Fox

Newberg, Ore..-In a battle of regionally-ranked top-20 teams, George Fox University outlasted the University of the Ozarks 7-2 in men's tennis action in Newberg, Oregon, Wednesday afternoon.
    
It was the first of four matches Ozarks will compete in against NCAA Division III opponents in Oregon this week. The Eagles, currently ranked No. 16 in the ITA West Region, will play Pacific University Thursday, Willamette University Friday and Linfield College Saturday. Pacific is ranked No. 10 in the West Region.
    
Against No. 12 George Fox (9-2), the Eagles (4-2) posted wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles. Senior Bishop Bass defeated his opponent 6-4, 5-7, 10-4 at No. 2. Freshman Spencer Turner won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6. Mitchell Miyahsiro slipped past Corey Dillard at No. 5 singles 6-2, 4-6, 10-3. George Fox swept each of the three doubles competitions. Chris Lilley and Chace Stalcup edged Gregg Knaggs and Jacob Organ 8-6 at No. 2 doubles.
    
Ozarks only other loss of the season came against Ouachita Baptist University, currently ranked No. 28 in NCAA II.
