Eagles Cap Senior Day With 8-1 Win

TJ Saniseng returns a ball on Senior Day against Howard Payne.

Clarksville, Ark.-The Eagles capped Senior Day with an impressive performance winning 8-1 against conference opponent Howard Payne University on Friday.  

The Eagles started the day with three quick wins in doubles play. At No. 1, Hikaru Yamaya and Kento Iwahara defeated Christian Fernandez and Nicolas Gates 8-4. Aaron Gambrell and TJ Saniseng won 8-1 against Micah Hunter and Jonathan Villarreal at the No. 2 position. At the No. 3 spot, Kao Lenkopane and Joshua Wilde topped Landon Ferree and Riley Harker 8-4. The Eagles then went to singles play in front 3-0 and continued the momentum by winning five of the six. Gambrell, playing No. 1, defeated Micah Hunter 6-1, 6-3. At No. 2, Iwahara topped Christian Fernandez 6-4, 6-0. In competition at the No. 3 spot, Joshua Wilde defeated Sebastian Soria 6-2, 6-0. Lenkopane won 7-6, 2-6, 8-6 over Landon Ferree at the No. 4 position. At No. 5, Sergio Munoz took down Hunter Green 6-4, 7-5.

Three Eagle seniors – Aaron Gambrell, Nico Castells and TJ Saniseng – were honored prior to the match as a part of a Senior Celebration Ceremony.
 
The Eagles will travel to Siloam Springs for matches against St. Louis Pharmacy and John Brown University April 8.
