Rhodes Overcomes Late Deficit To Pick Up Win

McKenzie Greeson hit four three-pointers in a loss against Rhodes College.

THE BASIC
Clarksville, Ark. – Rhodes College hit the go-ahead shot with less than three minutes remaining in the game to claim a 74-65 win over the Eagles Sunday. The Eagles held a 35-34 lead at halftime. Rhodes then took a 52-47 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The two teams traded baskets throughout the fourth quarter with Rhodes taking a 60-55 lead with 5:49 left. A pair of free throws by McKenzie Greeson and a layup by Brittany Temple brought the Eagles to within 60-59. Amanda Turpin hit a jump shot to give the Eagles a 61-60 advantage around the three minute mark. From there, Rhodes went on a 6-1 run to grab the lead back. With 1:13 left, Turpin scored on a layup to cut it to 66-64. But the Eagles couldn't get take the lead back. Temple led the Eagles with 15 points.

TURNING POINT
The Eagles held a narrow 61-60 advantage with 3:18 left in the game only to have Rhodes hit the go-ahead shot seconds later for a lead it wouldn't relinquish.

Rhodes went to the free throw line 31 times, while the Eagles had 12 shots from the line. McKenzie Greeson hit four three-pointers in the loss.
