THE BASICS
Clarksville, Ark. – Amanda Turpin scored 31 points to lead the Eagles to a thrilling 72-67 overtime win against Howard Payne University on Saturday. Turpin would hit a clutch jumper with 15 seconds remaining in regulation to put the Eagles in front. Just as the Eagles appeared to have the win, Howard Payne made a tough three-pointer that bounced around the rim and eventually dropped in to send the game into overtime. A Lili Garcia three-pointer ignited the Eagles in overtime as the freshman drilled a shot to give the Eagles a lead it wouldn't relinquish with 3:45 left. The Eagles led 25-22 at halftime. Entering the fourth quarter, the Eagles trailed 40-34. But Turpin would score 13 fourth quarter points to put the Eagles into a favorable comeback position.
