Howard Payne University spoiled the Eagles' American Southwest Conference opener with a late second half goal to pull out a 2-1 win Thursday in Brownwood, Texas. Howard Payne would score the game-winner in the 87th minute. The Eagles struck first with a goal in the 13th minute from Mason Faucher. The goal came on an assist from Jessica Alvarado. Howard Payne scored off a corner kick to even the score 1-1 in the second half. Karlee Friebele then scored the game-winner with just minutes to play.
