Soccer Teams To Experience Once-In-A-Lifetime Trip

Clarksville, Ark.-The University of the Ozarks women's and men's soccer programs are providing its student-athletes with a once-in-a-lifetime international experience this August. 

Beginning next week, the Eagles will take a multiple-city tour in France while immersing themselves in a variety of cultural experiences, training sessions and other soccer-related activities.

"This is a transformational opportunity for our student-athletes," said athletic director Jimmy Clark. "It's truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to experience France with your teammates in a way that is beneficial educationally and athletically. Only on a trip like this can that be accomplished. Our hope is that every student-athlete at Ozarks will experience an internatonal trip."  
 
The 13-day international trip begins on Tuesday, August 1, with a flight to Atlanta. The Eagles will arrive in Paris the following day. The teams will then travel by train from Paris to Lyon that evening. 
 
Day one in France will consist of a guided tour of Lyon followed by an evening practice. On day two, the Eagles will receive training from Lyon coaches and hold an activity with France Écologie Football. Day three will involve training with coaches from PSG academy. That evening, the Eagles will attend a Saint Étienne match at famed Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium and visit the museum there. Day four and five will consist of exploring Lyon and visiting museums with evening practices and matches against local teams. The next day the Eagles will train indoors and then tour Lyon's Parc Olympique Lyonnais Stadium. The final day in the Lyon area will consist of a day in the Alps with recreational activities at Lake Bourget. The Eagles will spend the next three days in Paris, which will include a tour of Parc des Princes Stadium, visiting the Louvre and Orsay museums and a cruise on the Seine River. The final day in Paris will include practicing and touring at the French National Training Center INF Clairefontaine.

Per NCAA rules, college teams are allowed to make an international trip once every four years. Additionally, the team is allotted an extra 10 practices in preparation for the trip. The teams will travel back to the United States on Sunday, August 13.
