HOW IT HAPPENED
Marshall, Texas – The Eagles set a new program shutout record (6) and tied a program win record (8) while notching a big 2-0 win over East Texas Baptist University Saturday night in Texas. The play of the dynamic Savannah Solloway was evident throughout the match as she scored both goals for the Eagles. The Eagles built off a dominant first half that saw the hungry visitors own a 4-0 corner kicks advantage and a 7-4 shots advantage in the first 45 minutes. In the second half, Solloway did her damage as she netted a goal in the 66th minute for a 1-0 lead. Solloway then converted a penalty kick goal in the 74th minute to stun the Tigers. Meanwhile the Eagles' defense fought off 11 second half shots and kept the shutout as goalkeeper Melanie Glossup recorded five of her six saves in the final 45 minutes. Glossup's effort in goal proved historic as the Eagles set the shutout record. Glossup now has four shutouts on the year. Solloway now has seven goals on the season. Solloway had five shots on goal and Alex Kasper had four shots on goal.
