Eagles Post Win Over Howard Payne

Kaitlin Gutierrez and the Eagles won against Howard Payne 8-1.

Clarksville, Ark.-The women's tennis team posted a dominating 8-1 win over Howard Payne University on Senior Day.

The Eagles got two wins in doubles as Annie Nelligan and Kaitlin Gutierrez defeated Trinity Johnson and Mikayla Hernandez 8-3 at the No. 2 spot. The Eagles received a win by forfeit at the No. 3 position. In singles, the Eagles swept the competition. At the No. 1 position, Yadira Rodriguez defeated Lexie Nave 6-3, 6-3. At No. 2, Kaitlin Gutierrez posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over Zoe Sprayberry. At the No. 3 spot, Annie Nelligan battled to a win over Trinity Johnson 2-6, 6-0, 10-5. At the No. 4 position, Tatum Hatridge took a win over Mikayla Hernandez 6-1, 6-1 and Anna Ryan defeated Lillian Jonescue 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot. The Eagles got a forfeit win at No. 6 singles (Skylar Frazier).

The program's five seniors – Kaitlin Gutierrez, Anna Claire Ryan, Tori Woods, Dallas Elmore, and Haruto Kanskau - were honored prior to the match.

In the second match of the day, NCAA II Newman University took a 9-0 win.

The Eagles will host Mary Hardin-Baylor March 13.
