Wrestling Duo Earns Wins At First-Ever NCWWC Regional

ON THE MAT
Lebanon, Ill.-Illyuana Martinez and Michelle Gonzalez competed in the program's first ever Regional Qualifier on Sunday. Martinez and Gonzalez represented the Eagles well at the event. Martinez, a freshman from Houston, Texas, fought in the 123-pound weight division and placed sixth overall, one spot away from advancing to Nationals. Martinez won by fall over Elle Fishburn (William Jewell College) (Fall 1:32). Martinez won by fall over Jazelyn Ruelas (Schreiner University) (Fall 0:39). Gonzalez, a freshman from Pea Ridge, Ark., wrestled in the 143-pound division and posted a win at the competition. Gonzalez won by fall over Kayla Davis (Fontbonne University ) (Fall 1:50).
