Grand Junction, Colo.-The women's wrestling team finished seventh at the NCWWC Regional Championships on Sunday and Rewa Chababo made program history as she advanced to the National Championships in March.

Six Eagles competed for a chance to advance to the National Championships. Chababo, wrestling at 191, became the program's first ever national qualifier. Chababo placed second at the Regionals and was the team's highest placer. Diriann Porras placed fifth overall at 143.

In the quarterfinal, Chababo won by fall over Angela Archuleta from Texas Woman's University (Fall 0:57). In the semifinal, Chababo posted a win by fall over Victoria Craft from Schreiner University (Fall 3:55). In the finals, Katja Osteen from Simon Fraser University won by fall (Fall 0:16).

Porras won by decision over Jermariah Ferguson from Texas Woman's University (Dec 8-2). In the quarterfinal, Kayley Garcia from Chadron won by fall (Fall 2:31). In consolation round 3, Porras won by decision over Clara Scaglioni from Simon Fraser University (Dec 8-4). Porras lost to Poorna Babu from Texas Woman's University (Dec 8-4). In the 5th place match, Porras won by decision over Serena Cervantes from Schreiner University (Dec 3-2).
