Rewa Chababo Makes History; Punches Ticket To Nationals

Rewa Chababo qualified for the National Championships in March.

Clarksville, Ark.-Freshman Rewa Chababo made program history Sunday as she became the first women's wrestler at Ozarks to qualify for the National Championships.

Wrestling at 191, Chababo placed second at the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) Regional in Grand Junction, Colorado. The top four in each weight class qualify for nationals. Under head coach Charlotte Fowler, the Eagles finished seventh as a team. Chababo punched her ticket to nationals with an impressive day of wrestling.

"I'm so proud of Rewa, our first national qualifier," said Fowler. "She has made and is continuing to make program history. This is the first step to achieving her goal. She had a great day of wrestling. We're going to enjoy this victory today, but tomorrow it's back to work preparing for nationals. It's an honor and a joy to be on this journey with her."

The NCWWC National Championships will be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, March 3-4.
