Rewa Chababo Set For Women's Wrestling National Championships

Rewa Chababo will compete in the National Championships March 3-4 in Iowa.

Clarksville, Ark.-University of the Ozarks freshman women's wrestler Rewa Chababo is set to compete in the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) over the next two days in Iowa.

Chababo qualified for the National Championships after placing second at the Regional in Grand Junction, Colorado. She is the first women's Ozarks wrestler to qualify for nationals.

"Rewa is the first women's wrestler to qualify for nationals," said head coach Charlotte Fowler. "That's a big deal, and it's so exciting to be a part of her journey. I'm really proud of her and the team."

Chababo is set to open against Yamilex Perez from Adrian College on Friday. Chababo is ranked seventh in the most recent NWCA coaches rankings. Chababo has also helped the team earn a No. 18 ranking in the coaches poll. 75 NCAA III wrestlers qualified for the national championships, which is 38 percent of the field, and combines NCAA I and NCAA II wrestlers.

Held in Cedar Rapids, the National Championships will take place March 3-4 at the Alliant Energy Powerhouse.
