Clarksville, Ark.-A trio of University of the Ozarks women's wrestlers were named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American Team, the organization announced recently.

Rewa Chababo, Diriann Porras and Isabella Cruz become the program's first wrestlers to achieve the honor.

Chababo, a freshman English and management major from Houston, Texas, made program history as she became the first Eagle to qualify for the National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships (NCWWC) National Championships. Wrestling in the 191-pound weight class, Chababo posted a 14-4 record in her first collegiate wrestling season and finished second at the NCWWC Regional. The first-year standout was nationally ranked during the season and earned NWCA Region V Wrestler of the Month once. Chababo made the President's List in her first semester at Ozarks. Porras, a sophomore business administration from Houston, Texas, posted six wins in the 155-pound weight class. Porras placed fifth at the NCWWC Regional. Porras has made the Dean's List twice at Ozarks. Cruz, a freshman political science major from Euless, Texas, posted four wins in her first season at the collegiate level. Wrestling at 116, Cruz had a win in the NCWWC Regional. Cruz made the President's List in her first semester at Ozarks.

NWCA Executive Director, Mike Moyer, expressed his respect for these exceptional student-athletes in the NWCA release, stating, "We are thrilled to recognize these remarkable scholars for their outstanding accomplishments. These wrestlers have shown an unwavering commitment to their academic and athletic pursuits, and we proudly applaud their achievements."

In order for a student-athlete to be nominated by their coach, they must have a 3.50 grade point average with the benchmark a 3.25 for those that qualify for the NCWWC National Tournament and a 3.0 for those that earn All-American status during the National Championships. A total of 134 individuals earned recognition from 31 schools.

On the mat, the Eagles were ranked among the top-20 nationally for most of the season.
