Women’s Wrestling Team Picked To Win St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference

Clarksville, Ark. - The University of the Ozarks women's wrestling team can lay claim as the inaugural preseason top pick in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). 
     
The Eagles were chosen 1st by the coaches for the 2023-24 season. With just one senior, Anna Briggs, and one junior, Diriann Porras (a regional placer), the Eagles lean young this year. Rewa Chababo, a sophomore, shined in her first collegiate season as she qualified for nationals last season. April Stanley (130), also a sophomore, is a former state champion. Head Coach Vinny Barber brings in a talented freshman class of Kristin Fonseca (116), Savea Cunningham (123), Claire Wheeler (136), and Brynn Elkins (155); whom all placed in their state tournaments. 

This year marks the first year the conference will sponsor a wrestling championship, which will be held in February. Seven member schools will compete in women's wrestling: Blackburn College, Eureka College, Fontbonne University, Lyon University, Schreiner University, University of the Ozarks and Westminster College.
