Clarksville, Ark.-After battling back from a 6-1 deficit and tying the game in the sixth, the Eagles couldn't close out LeTourneau University and dropped a 8-6 decision Friday in American Southwest Conference play.
Ozarks (14-24, 10-21 ASC) held a 1-0 lead after four innings, but LeTourneau (26-12, 20-11 ASC) jumped out to a 6-1 advantage with a six-run fifth inning. Ozarks battled back to tie the score with five runs in the sixth behind four hits. Sam Shook highlighted the inning with a three-run homer over the right field fence. Prior to the home run, Taylor Parker doubled in a pair of runs.
LeTourneau added a run in the seventh and eighth, the final coming on a sacrifice squeeze play, to secure the game.
Ozarks starter Jeffrey Works (4-4) went seven innings as the starter. He didn't allow a hit until the fourth inning and finished with four strike outs.
Shook finished 3-for-5 with four RBI.
Ozarks will finish its series tomorrow with a double-header beginning at noon. "Senior Day" will be held prior to the first pitch.
