Seventh Inning Two-Out Rally Propels Ozarks To Game One Win

Seventh Inning Two-Out Rally Propels Ozarks To Game One Win

Clarksville, Ark. – Trailing by one run going into the bottom of the seventh inning, Ozarks was able to string together a timely rally and defeat Williams Baptist 2-1 in game one of a midweek double-header.

Ozarks (13-20) had to plate at least one run in the seventh to send the game into extra innings or capture a win. Dean Igert stepped to the plate in a pressure situation with Zach Jones on first base and two outs. Jones got into scoring position after advancing to second on a wild pitch. Igert then pulled through for Ozarks by launching an RBI double to deep center field, evening the score 1-1. Fielder Dufrene kept the inning alive and got on base after the second error of the inning by the shortstop. With runners on first and third, Jake Smith hit a hard ground ball to shortstop, which resulted in an overthrow that allowed Igert to score and clenched the 2-1 win for Ozarks.

Game one was scoreless until the top of the fourth inning, when Williams Baptist (16-25) took advantage of an Ozarks fielding error and plated Tyler Eudy.

Keaton Ramsey
(1-2) pitched a complete game for Ozarks in game one, giving up no earned runs or walks through seven innings. Though he did not allow any earned runs and only gave up two hits on the day, Dylan Disotell (2-4) recorded the loss for Williams Baptist.

In game two, Williams Baptist struck first in the first inning and never gave up the lead after that, winning 6-0 in seven innings. Williams Baptist got their offense rolling and won the hitting battle 9-2 over Ozarks.
During his four and one-third innings on the mound for Ozarks, Dalton Spurgeon (1-1) allowed three runs, two of which were earned.

Ozarks will host its final American Southwest Conference series at home April 22-23. Seniors will be honored prior to Saturday's game and FanFest activities start at 10:00 that morning.
