Clarksville, Ark.-32 University of the Ozarks student-athletes were named to the 2017-2018 winter/spring American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team, it was announced by the league office Tuesday (June 5).
     
To be eligible for ASC Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must be classified academically as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student during the competition season and have been in attendance and completed at least one academic year (two consecutive semesters) prior to the season at their institution. They must also have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as certified at the conclusion of the academic semester in which the ASC sport championship is held.

The baseball team placed ten athletes on the team: AJ Chalupka, a senior business administration major from Flower Mound, Texas; Patrick Clifford, a senior health science major from Grand Prairie, Texas; Dakota Ebarb, a junior business administration/psychology major from Lavon, Texas; Chase Edwards, a sophomore business administration major from Chandler, Ariz.; Gabriel Figueroa Rodriguez, a junior mathematics major from Cagaus, Puerto Rico; Jake Holland, a junior communication studies major from Stafford, Texas; Bobby Ketterer, a senior economics major from Bandera, Texas; Edwin Rodriguez, a junior international business/economics major from Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; Dalton Spurgeon, a junior management major from Lee's Summit, Mo.; and Jack Waggoner, a sophomore business administration major from Keller, Texas.

The men's basketball team placed three athletes on the team: Dylan Gray, a senior health science major from Siloam Springs, Ark.; Kelvin Knight, a sophomore physical education major from Katy, Texas; and Cory Wilhelm, a sophomore biology major from Ratcliff, Ark.     

The women's basketball team placed four athletes on the team: Roseanna Ezell, a senior accounting major from Quitman, Ark.; Makara Frazier, a junior physical education major from Camden, Ark.; Anisha Johnson, a senior physical education/health science major from Little Rock, Ark.; and Savannah Kate Smith, a junior physical education major from Perryville, Ark.

The softball team placed four athletes on the team: Brooke Hoffsommer, a senior health science major from Alma, Ark.; Sydney Key, a sophomore health science major from Clarksville, Ark.; Cheyanna Miller, a junior health science/music major from West Plains, Mo.; and Katie Ventress, a senior business administration major from Oklahoma City, Okla.

The men's tennis team placed four athletes on the team: Cole Lankford, a sophomore business administration/environmental studies major from Knob Noster, Mo.; Jonah Martinez, a sophomore business administration major from Fort Worth, Texas; Walker Murray, a sophomore business administration major from West Helena, Ark.; and Spencer Turner, a senior accounting major from Pearcy, Ark.

Karlee Hart, a sophomore business administration/health science major from Van Buren, Ark., represented the women's tennis team.

The men's track team placed three athletes on the team: Tyler O'Banion, a sophomore biology/secondary education major from El Dorado Springs, Mo.; Jacob Williams, a senior health science major from Broken Arrow, Okla.; and Jonathon Wood, a sophomore undeclared major from  Berryville, Ark.

The women's track team had two athletes: Grasyn Langley, a senior biology major from Garland, Texas; and Hannah Smith, a junior accounting major from Blue Eye, Mo.

Clay target student-athlete Gavin Wheeler was named Academic All-Conference as a sports information student assistant.
