GAME ONE
Overview:
Starting pitcher David Beck was dominant in his outing against McMurry University throwing a no-hitter for 6.1 innings in Friday's 13-0 win. Beck finished with a one-hitter over seven innings. The junior right-hander struck out seven and walked five. Beck faced the minimum in the third, fourth and fifth innings. After recording an out in the seventh, Beck issued a walk and then gave up a hit. The offense and defense were stout behind Beck. The Eagles pounded out 15 hits, with five different players recording multiple-hit games, and the defense played flawless without an error. Rey Lozano cranked out a solo home run in the first inning and then the Eagles added three more runs in the second. Sam Silvestri did most of the damage in the second with a two-run shot over the right field fence. Silvestri almost did it again in the fourth, but he was just inches away from putting over. From there, the Eagles plated a run in the fourth, and then four in the fifth and sixth inning. In the fifth, Josh Stephens blasted a two-run single. In the sixth, Tyler Arco recorded a two-run double. Arco had himself a day going 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBI. Lozano, Chase Edwards, Luke Morrison and Silvestri each had two hits.
