GAME THREE
Overview:
In an incredible swing of momentum, Hardin-Simmons scored a combined seven runs in the eighth and ninth inning and then plated the game-winning run in the tenth to pull out a 13-12 win. The Eagles held a 3-0 lead after four and a 6-0 lead after five. The Eagles had ten hits in the first five innings of play, while starting pitcher Chase Stephenson limited the Cowboys to just two hits during that span. Hardin-Simmons had a big sixth inning scoring five runs to trim the deficit to 7-5, but the Eagles burst out to a 12-5 advantage after scoring five runs in the top of the seventh. The big bat of Chase Edwards highlighted the inning with a three-run homer. But things quickly changed for the Eagles as Hardin-Simmons grabbed momentum of the game scoring three runs in the eighth and four more in the ninth to push it into extra innings. From there, the Eagles struck out three straight times in the top of the tenth and the Cowboys manufactured the game-winning run on a one-out RBI single. The Eagles defense had its toughest day this season committing four errors in the contest. Edwards went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. Rennie Arjona went 4-for-6 with three runs.
