ASC Announces Winter/Spring ASC All-Academic List

47 University of the Ozarks student-athletes were named to the 2019-2020 winter/spring American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team, it was announced by the league office Tuesday (June 9).

To be eligible for ASC Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must be classified academically as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student during the competition season and have been in attendance and completed at least one academic year (two consecutive semesters) prior to the season at their institution. They must also have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as certified at the conclusion of the academic semester in which the ASC sport championship is held.

The baseball team placed ten athletes on the list: Erick Aguirre, a senior health science major from Hot Springs, Ark.; Mason BaDour, a junior biomedical major from Richardson, Texas; David Beck, a sophomore physical education major from Conway; Connor Boyle, a sophomore physical education major from Oppelo, Ark.; Zachary Brizendine, a sophomore chemistry major from Roanoke, Texas;  Chase Edwards, a senior business administration major from Chandler, Ariz.; Jake Holland, a senior communication studies major from Stafford, Texas; Bradon Mabry, a senior biomedical major from Rogers, Ark.; Michel Rankin, a junior physical education major from Charleston, Ark.; and Josh Stephens, a senior health science major from Springdale, Ark.

The men's basketball team placed four athletes on the list: Kelvin Knight, a senior physical education major from Katy, Texas; Darnel Renelique, a sophomore health science major from Katy, Texas; Tim Turpin, a junior business administration major from Cypress, Texas; and Cory Wilhelm, a senior biomedical major from Ratcliff, Ark.      

The women's basketball team placed seven athletes on the list: Kerigan Bradshaw, a sophomore biomedical major from Harrison, Ark.; Carly Grace Dougan, a sophomore undeclared major from Clarksville, Ark.; Kelsey Dixson, a sophomore environmental studies major from Hector, Ark.; Kamryn McKinney, a junior health science major from Sallisaw, Okla.; Janna Rhinehart, a sophomore health science major from Danville, Ark.; Brittney Sain, a sophomore health science major from Lake City, Ark.; and Angela Wyatt, a sophomore psychology major from Coal Hill, Ark. 

The softball team placed seven athletes on the list: Elisa Cantu, a sophomore undeclared major from Grand Prairie, Texas; Riki Haase, a junior political science/biomedical/philosophy major from Argyle, Texas; Sierra Jasna, a sophomore biomedical major from Sallisaw, Okla.; Sydney Key, a junior health science major from Lamar, Ark.; Megan Madden, a junior accounting major from Flower Mound, Texas; Tori Reiber, a sophomore biomedical major from Commerce, Texas; and Candace Rogers, a sophomore biomedical major from Batesville, Ark.

The men's tennis team placed three athletes on the list: Cole Lankford, a senior accounting/business administration major from Knob Noster, Mo.; Jonah Martinez, a senior business administration major from Fort Worth, Texas; and Walker Murray, a senior accounting major from West Helena, Ark.

The women's tennis team placed four athletes on the list: Alexandria Corona, a senior psychology major from Willis, Texas; Karlee Hart, a senior business administration/health science major from Van Buren, Ark.; Abrian Johnson, a sophomore health science/political science major from Fort Worth, Texas; and Anna Ryan, a sophomore business administration major from Woodville, Miss.

The men's track team placed eight athletes on the list: Petron Brown, a sophomore environmental studies/business administration major from Nassau, Bahamas; Luis Garcia, a junior business administration major from Clarksville, Ark.; Michael Harris, a senior health science major from Elkins, Ark.; Ben Lillagore, a sophomore environmental studies major from Grandbury, Texas; Jaeden Miller, a junior biomedical major from Canton, Texas; Corey Muniz, a senior business administration major from Romeoville, Ill.; Edwin Rivera, a junior health science major from Springdale, Ark.; and Clinton Rolle, a junior psychology major from Snug Corner, Bahamas.

Areli Moreno, a senior health science major from Katy, Texas, represented the women's track team. 

Student athletic trainers who made the list included Terri Brown, a junior health science major from Olive Branch, Miss.; Sydney Key, a junior health science major from Lamar, Ark.; and Joey Long, a junior biology major from Cabot, Ark.

Gavin Wheeler, a senior communication studies major from Combs, Ark., made the list as a sports information student assistant.
