GAME ONE
Overview:
Ben Cross had himself a day with a pair of solo home runs and Rodny Valdes allowed just five hits in his start as the Eagles took a 2-1 win against East Texas Baptist University Sunday in game three. Cross cranked out his first home run in the third inning to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Valdes kept the Tigers scoreless until the bottom of the eighth. Cross blasted his second home run of the day in the top of the eighth. Valdes got two outs in the eighth, but was replaced by Kris Sloan. Valdes was charged with a run in the frame. He fanned three in 7.2 innings of work. Sloan collected his sixth save the season with a one hit performance in 1.1 innings. Sloan made quick work of the Tigers in the ninth by retiring the side. Cross was a tough out in the game as he went 4-for-4.
