THE BASICS
The Eagles hung tough for the entire game but came out with a 84-78 loss against Sul Ross State University Saturday. The Eagles shot better from the field than Sul Ross (48 percent to 46 percent). The Lobos led 42-38 at halftime and kept a small lead throughout the second half. The Eagles made a run with about two minutes remaining and cut the deficit to 78-76. It was 80-78 with 30 seconds left, but Sul Ross hit all four of its free throw attempts down the stretch. Jacobe Davis scored 22 points to lead the Eagles.
